Musical hallucinations
The music itself sounds in my head. Familiar? It happens, probably, with everyone, what is there. Cling to some "girl Praskovya", spin-spin and stop. Another thing is when the melody…

The most terrible hip-hop

When an ordinary man in the street hears the word “rap”, he comes to mind reciting a bit about the beautiful and luxurious life, or Vice versa — about the different problems of this world. Seem often shabbily dressed black men in baseball caps and baggy trousers, or the representatives of the new school rap fashion, and bedecked with gold guys. But such a word as” horrorcore ” will come to mind for a very limited number of people.

For many fans of rap will be the news that rap can also be dark, frightening and brutal energy is not inferior to black or death metal. Continue reading

Amore… industrial

Tell me honestly, what do you associate the words “Italian music”with? Opera? Well, most likely, dissemble. Disco? That’s more likely. Nevertheless, a significant part of the Italian musicians can in response to frown ask: what about… industrial and noise varying degrees of ferocity? In the end, the very concept of style was formulated there, Luigi Russolo will not lie. And his compatriots still keep the brand – their national school remains one of the most powerful and ferocious in the world. Continue reading

Fifty shades of the dark middle ages

No, to be honest, the title is a bit tricky: we will give not fifty examples, but much less, but – nevertheless. The middle ages have always attracted musicians – including those whose idea of the middle ages is quite far from reality. But, perhaps, just because of this “medieval music”, including its dark hypostasis, boasts a considerable variety of shades.

It’s funny, but the term “medieval music” is not quite accurate: most often it means either folk, that is, the performance of folk music and the composition of their songs “in the same spirit”, or something like lute music of the Renaissance. The real “medieval music” sounds completely different – it is, for example, Gregorian chants. Continue reading

Kamikaze, harakiri and music

What do we know about the Japanese? Well, except that they tend to make sake, to become suicide bombers and to arrange all living things harakiri? Most likely, all the above — nothing more than stereotypes and a misconception, BUT… if you know Japanese music, horror beginning to suspect that these stereotypes are not so different from the truth…

Masonna

If music fans to scream “Japanese”, the echo almost invariably will respond – “noise”. This good in the Land of the rising sun is more than black metal in Scandinavia, and the number of individual releases, probably, can not be counted even on a quantum computer. Continue reading

The horror and mystery of a Russian folk

On the one hand, fortunately, gone are the days when the concept of “Russian folk music” was reduced to “Play, accordion” and the ensemble “birch”. On the other hand, we seem to still underestimate neither the stylistic diversity of Russian folk in General, nor the number and quality of its facets, which can please the connoisseur of horror.

Russian folk, senseless and ruthless…. Oh, sorry wrong quote, but still not quite in the subject. But the real truth in it: that motley bunch, which is sometimes referred to as Russian folk, often are not true to the folk and not always refers to the Russian. First, not all groups write in this “style” is generally taken for folk instruments, and secondly, to put it mildly, few use really popular songs, and third, the basis of creativity of many local musicians is, certainly, folklore, but not always domestic.
